Host institutions
SMASH host institutions are some of the finest research institutions that Slovenia has to offer, and range from the youngest modern boutique University of Nova Gorica (UNG), the oldest University of Ljubljana (UL), to the largest science institute in the country, the Jožef Stefan Institute (JSI), together with the governmental Slovenian Environment Agency (ARSO) and the Institute for Information Science (IZUM). Although each host institution has its own approach to academic research, all are characterised by being among Europe’s best, with excellent working conditions and wide-ranging administrative support.
