Franc Marušič

Got his PhD from Stony Brook University in 2005 and is employed at the University of Nova Gorica since then. He was the dean of the Faculty of humanities from 2009 -- 2011 and is now the acting director of the linguistics program at Faculty of Humanities at UNG. In 2015 he was a visiting professor at the linguistics department at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles. He received the National Zois Recognition Award in 2016. He is a member of the Slovenian research agency's counseling committee for humanities (2011-2015 and 2021-2025), a member of the UNESCO World Atlas of Languages advisory committee, and the co-editor-in-chief of the Journal of Slavic Linguistics, the official journal of the Slavic Linguistics Society. He lead several National and multilateral (involving partners from various countries) research grants.
