Andreja Gomboc
Andreja Gomboc (Full professor, UNG-CAC) PhD in Physics at the University of Ljubljana, Marie Skłodowska Curie postdoctoral fellowship at Liverpool John Moores University, UK, and Fulbright Scholar at the University of Washington, USA. Her main fields of research are astrophysical transients, in particular tidal disruptions of stars in vicinity of massive black holes, gamma ray bursts, and gravitational wave events.
In 2016 she organized the first International Astronomical Union Symposium in Slovenia: IAU 324 New Frontiers in Black Hole Astrophysics. Currently a member of the Steering Committee of the IAU Division D - High Energy Phenomena and Fundamental Physics.
Since 2017 she is leading Slovenian participation in Vera Rubin Observatory's Legacy Survey of Space and Time and is an active member of the Transients and Variable Stars Science Collaboration. Member of the SOC for the LSST@Europe 4 conference, co-organizer of the LSST@Europe 5.
Recipient of National Zois Recognition Award 2015, »Excellent in Science« notation by the Slovenian Research Agency (2013, 2018) and co-recipient of The Times Higher Award: Research Project of the Year 2007 (UK).
She led a number of National grants and European Space Agency projects.
