Director of University of Washington eScience Institute, Head of prompt processing pipeline commissioning at Rubin Observatory. Research interests cover Cosmology, Machine Learning, Image Analytics. He has 25 years of experience in leading and developing statistical and machine learning tools for astronomy, coauthored a book on machine learning for astronomy, “Statistics, Data Mining and Machine Learning in Astronomy: A Practical Python Guide for the Analysis of Survey Data,” and has taught numerous summer schools and courses in these areas. While on sabbatical at Google in 2006, he led the development of GoogleSky.
