Sašo Grozdanov

Professor, UL FMF

Dr. Sašo Grozdanov is a Professor of Physics at the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics, University of Ljubljana, and at the Higgs Centre for Theoretical Physics, University of Edinburgh. He received his BA from Harvard University, his MA from the University of Cambridge, and his PhD from the University of Oxford. After completing his studies, he worked as a postdoctoral researcher at Leiden University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

His broad research interest is the discovery of the laws governing physics using theoretical and mathematical methods across a wide range of energy scales — from hydrodynamics to quantum field theory, gravity and black holes, and string theory. More recently, his work has also included interdisciplinary research combining art and science. Together with Dr. Eszter Polonyi, he is currently leading an interdisciplinary ARIS project entitled “The Photo of a Black Hole: Physics Meets Photography.”
