Žiga Zaplotnik

A researcher in the Earth-system assimilation section at the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF), Assistant Professor at the Department of Meteorology at Faculty of Mathematics and Physics, University of Ljubljana, and chair of the Climate Council, an advisory body of the Government of the Republic of Slovenia. His research is focused on the development of numerical and neural data assimilation methods to integrate atmospheric measurements into operational weather forecasting models to improve the initial conditions for subsequent weather forecasts. His research interests include atmospheric dynamics and circulation, particularly tropical Hadley circulation.
