Kazuhiro Terao
SLAC
Kazuhiro Terao is a Staff Scientist in the Elementary Particle Physics division at SLAC specializing in the application of machine learning techniques to particle detection in high-energy physics experiments. Dr. Terao pioneered the application of object detection and sparse convolution to the detection of neutrinos in the MicroBooNE experiment. His work extends to the development of large, composite deep learning models that effectively combine physics analysis with a data processing pipeline. He is also a co-principal investigator for the NSF Growing Convergence Research project Mineral Detection of Dark Matter.
