Technical University of Denmark, Department of Technology, Management and Economics
SMASH Associate partner
DTU Management conducts excellent research at the intersection of management, technology and economics to develop solutions in close cooperation with companies and public authorities. The research strengthens welfare, productivity, and sustainability, with a key emphasis on the role of technology and its interaction with industry and citizens, while the department consistently strives for excellence. DTU Management has been awarded four ERC grants as principal investigator during the last two years and participates in many more projects, while transforming its research into societal impact through numerous collaborative efforts.
The department’s research is divided into four divisions: Management Science, Climate and Energy Policy; Technology and Business Studies and Transportation Science. The Climate and Energy Policy Division at DTU develops research-based methods, instruments, and decision support for the green transition, placing sustainability at the core of its work. Researchers provide knowledge on the societal consequences of climate change and preventive measures, examining how industry and households are affected. The division investigates the development of sustainable energy systems, including energy infrastructure, sector coupling, and renewable energy integration, while also analyzing energy economics topics such as windmill supply, incentives for businesses and households, and the effects of subsidies, taxes, and barriers to conversion. Through its research, the division supports companies, public authorities, and policymakers with tools, models, and analyses to facilitate informed decision-making in the transition toward a sustainable energy future.
