The University of Trento (UNITN) is a medium-sized University in Italy founded in 1962, in top positions in national rankings and well positioned in international ones. This result is due, in particular, to the University’s success in research and its ability to look toward Europe and the world. The Department of Civil, Environmental, and Mechanical Engineering (DICAM) pursues high-level scientific and teaching objectives, regarding research and training, in line with the most important research-intensive universities. The mission of the Department is laid down in the following specific targets: (i) the promotion of research in critical areas of Engineering; (ii) the training of engineers and researchers of future generations.
The Department of Civil, Environmental, and Mechanical Engineering (DICAM) was involved in 2 MSCA Innovative Training Actions - European Training Network (ETN) under H2020 as beneficiary and one as a partner organization. DICAM has been awarded “Department of Excellence” by the national Ministry for Education
UNITN has expertise in mesoscale habitat modelling using fieldwork and has developed novel tools for using 2D hydraulic models for the same purpose. The hosting team at DICAM develops scientific research on ecohydraulics, habitat assessment, and river morphological dynamics. Since more than 20 years it has supported local environmental agencies and District Authorities for policy making, methods testing, and project evaluation, with focus on ecological flows and river restoration using hydraulic-habitat methods since 2015.
